Galvanization

The Arras Chair is the piece that defines the collection: an armless garden chair modelled on originals made in Arras, northern France, in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Its riveted iron frame and hoof feet are reproduced as on the period pieces, which antique dealers now sell at a premium.

We make each chair by hand forging and manual riveting, the techniques that give Arras furniture its distinctive look. It works as a dining chair around the Arras Dining Table or Round Table, as a bistro pair with the Arras Bistro Table, or in long rows on restaurant terraces and at events.

The original chairs came from the ironworks of Arras, such as the Usine Saint-Sauveur, which made garden furniture from around 1840 until the 1920s for public parks and country estates. Genuine pieces are now sought after by collectors; ours give you the same look and construction, new, in the colour you choose and built for everyday use.

Colour & finish

Painted to order in any RAL Classic colour, included in the price. For pieces that stay outdoors all year, choose hot-dip galvanisation: the iron is dipped in molten zinc, which gives long-term protection against rust.

Handmade to order

Every piece is forged, riveted and finished by hand in our family workshop, where three generations of blacksmiths have worked since the 1950s. Bespoke sizes, larger quantities for hotels, restaurants and event venues, and trade pricing are available. Contact us for a quote.

Galvanisation

Hot-dip galvanisation means dipping the finished piece in molten zinc, which forms a protective layer against rust. It is the most effective long-term protection for furniture that stays outdoors all year.
